The Red Sox were beaten by the Reds 5-4. Masataka Yoshida and Enmanuel Valdez homered for Boston.
The Mets beat the Phillies 4-1. Mark Canha homered for the Mets.

CIAC Girls State Softball Tournament
Traveled to Middletown Wednesday - 2nd Round Game Class M Seymour at Mercy - this was a great game played by 2 good teams - games sometimes come down to 1 inning - such was the case in this game
Scoreless after 3 innings, Mercy struck for 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th - rbi singles from Kate Bailey and Maggie Mathews and a triple and 2 rbis from Skylar Swanson; Swanson added another rbi in the 6th on an infield out; Brooke Hickman was the winning pitcher.
For Seymour - Sofia Hynds had a double, single and rbi and Maggie Sudimick homered in the 7th but it was not enough as Mercy beat the Wildcats 5-2 and advance to the Quarterfinals in Class M
