Tuesday's Broadcast - the CIAC State Softball Tournament Class S Semifinals -
Game 1 - North Branford vs. Coventry; Game 2 - Cromwell vs. Old Lyme
Game 1 - North Branford took advantage of 5 Coventry errors and beat the Patriots 4-2. The T-Birds scored all 4 of their runs in the 5th inning without a hit! In fact, North Branford finished with 1 hit, which had nothing to do with the 4 runs!
Lauren Ackerman had the lone T-Bird hit, a double in the 7th.
Ackerman and Lindsey Onofrio had rbis for North Branford.
Elizabeth Mitchell had an rbi for Coventry. She was also the hard luck losing pitcher, allowing only 1 hit and had 6 strikeouts. But her defense let her down. (Mitchell also made an error)
Game 2 - Cromwell scored 3 runs in the 4th inning and then held on to beat Old Lyme 3-1.
Lily Kenney was the winning pitcher, allowing only 2 hits and had 10 strikeouts, and at the plate, had a double and scored a run.
Victoria Wiatrak had a single and rbi, and Grace McFarlin had 2 doubles and an rbi for Cromwell.
Grace Phaneuf had the lone Old Lyme rbi.
Emma Bayor pitched outstanding in defeat for Old Lyme. She had 10 strikeouts in the game.
