Monday's Broadcast - the CIAC State Softball Tournament Class L Semifinals
Masuk vs. Bristol Eastern and Waterford vs. Avon
Two dandies
Game 1 #1 seed Masuk vs. #21 seed Bristol Eastern - scoreless through 4, Masuk broke through with 2 runs in the 5th on a 2 run Home Run by Natalie Lieto, then added a run in the 6th on an error and defeated Bristol Eastern 3-0.
Kat Gallant pitched a 2 hit shutout and had 12 strikeouts. She had a perfect game for 5 2/3 innings.
Jaz Browne and Janessa Gonzalez had the 2 hits for the Lancers.
Game 2 #6 seed Avon vs. #7 seed Waterford - scoreless through 3, Waterford scored 1 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th and 4 in the 7th and cruised to an 8-0 win over the Avon Falcons.
For Waterford, Maddie Burrows pitched a NO Hitter and had 9 strikeouts. Anna Donahue had a single and triple and 2 rbis; Anna Dziecinny hit a 2 run Home Run, a single and double and had 3 rbis
Jackie Pengel had 12 strikeouts in defeat for Avon.
So the Championship is set in Class L - #1 seed Masuk vs. #7 seed Waterford
In the Class LL Semifinals - Bristol Central defeated Danbury 4-1 and Southington beat Ludlowe 7-3.
Tuesday Broadcast - the Class S Semifinals - North Branford vs. Coventry and Cromwell vs. Old Lyme 3:55pm and 6:55pm on ESPNradio(AM1300, WAVZ) & iheartradio; you can watch the game on the 960WELI.com Website
The Class M Semifinals are also on Tuesday in Stratford.
