A trip to Shelton Monday on a very chilly day - certainly not Softball weather - but that didn't stop West Haven and Shelton from playing a wild, crazy and very exciting game.
West Haven led 3-0 after 3 and seemed very much in control behind pitcher Mia Rubirosa. But the Shelton bats woke up and the Gaels scored 4 runs for a 4-3 lead.
West Haven tied it with a run in the top of the 5th, but Shelton countered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th for a 6-4 lead. West Haven answered with 2 runs in the top of the 6th to tie it at 6 after 6 innings.
That set the stage for the 7th. The Blue Devils scored 3 runs on a triple, single, sac bunt, walk, fielder's choice and a 2 base error in the outfield for a 9-6 lead. That my friends was a wild game as West Haven held on to beat Shelton 9-6.
West Haven is 5-1, Shelton 4-2. These 2 teams will meet again later in the season.
