Tuesday's Broadcast - the final Winter Broadcast - Hockey - the CIAC State Tournament Div. 1 Championship - Darien vs. Notre Dame(WH)
No doubt the most exciting of the 3 Championship Games -
The Blue Wave drew first blood in the 1st Period on a goal from Henry Gregory.
The Green Knights tied it in the 2nd Period on a goal by Robert McCarthy. But Darien regained the lead 3 minutes later on a goal by Tauson Pfiefle and led 2-1 after 2.
But then the dramatic 3rd Period.
Colby Faughnan tied it at 2 just a minute and 14 seconds gone in the period. Ty Battipaglia put ND ahead 3-2 on a beautiful pass from Michael Pilato.
James Mascari put the icing on the cake with a beautiful goal and completed the rally and the Green Knights had themselves a come from behind 4-2 victory and the Div. 1 State Championship.
Notre Dame(WH) coach, Larry Vieira, won his 1st State Championship in 34 years. His last state title was back in 1988 when he coached Branford HS.
That put a capper on the Winter Season Broadcasts.
