Monday's Broadcast - Hockey - the CIAC State Tournament Division 3 Semifinals
Game 1 Newington Coop 5 Joel Barlow/Weston/Abbott Tech 1 Newington spotted JBWA a 1-0 lead, then scored 5 unanswered goals for the win; Spencer Thomas scored a Power Play for JBWA, but Michael Deegan scored for Newington to tie it at 1, and from then on, it was all Newington. Harrison Ranger had 2 goals and an assist and Braeden Humphrey and Evan Oliver also scored for the Nor'easters.
Game 2 Conard 2 Brookfield/Bethel/Danbury 1 One of the best games I've had the pleasure to broadcast all year. Tyler West scored for Conard but Kenny Granacker tied it for BBD and we stayed that way until 1:43 was left in the game when Brian Fehl tipped in a shot to give the Chieftains the win.
Conard outshot BBD 44-11. BBD Goalie Louie Alfidi was absolutely brilliant. He made 42 saves in defeat, one of the best performances by any player all year.
But it will be Conard vs. Newington Coop for the Div. 3 Championship on Thursday night at Quinnipiac.
