AL Wild Card - Red Sox Oust Yankees From the Playoffs

The Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 6-2 Tuesday night in the American League Wild Card Game at Fenway Park.

Xander Bogaerts hit a 2 run Home Run for Boston in the 1st inning and quite frankly I thought the game was over then. Kyle Schwarber hit a solo Home Run in the 3rd inning and that was the game winning rbi.

Anthony Rizzo homered for New York in the 6th inning to make it 3-1, but Boston got the run back with an rbi double from Alex Verdugo. Verdugo singled in 2 more runs in the 7th inning and that's all she wrote. Giancarlo Stanton homered for the Yankees in the 9th inning to end the scoring. Red Sox 6 Yankees 2

Nathan Eovaldi was outstanding for Boston, going 5 1/3 innings, giving up 1 run, 4 hits and had 8 strikeouts.

Gerrit Cole had a terrible outing for New York. He didn't get out of the 3rd inning and was taken out. His last few outings were not good down the stretch for the Yankees. Remember, he makes $324 million dollars.

The Red Sox advance to the ALDS to take on the Tampa Bay Rays which starts Thursday night in Tampa in a Best of 5 Series.

The NL Wild Card Game is Wednesday night - the St. Louis Cardinals taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers in Los Angeles.
