It was back to Biondi Field in West Haven - the SCC Softball Tournament Championship featuring Amity against Cheshire. They have had many great battles in the past and Thursday night was no exception.
It was a nip and tuck game. Cheshire grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 1st on an rbi single from winning Pitcher Bri Pearson.
Amity scored 2 runs in the 3rd thanks to a 2 run single from Olivia Greco. The lead was short lived because the Rams responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take back the lead at 4-2. Trinadey Santiago had a bunt single for an rbi in the inning.
Amity tied the game at 4 with 2 runs in the 4th, getting rbis from Juliette Zito and Sydney Manzione.
But Cheshire would get the game winning run in the 5th on an rbi single from Bri Pearson.
The Rams got the win 5-4 and the SCC Softball Tournament Championship!
For Amity - Grace Carrington had 3 hits and scored a run, Juliette Zito had 2 hits and an rbi.
For Cheshire - Ella Watson had a single and scored 2 runs and Grace Lurz had a single and scored 2 runs.
Amity outhit Cheshire 9-5.
Both teams now move on to the CIAC State Tournament. The Pairings are due out on Friday, May 28. The Tournament starts next week on Tuesday, June 1.
Next Broadcast will be Monday, June 7 - the CIAC State Tournament Semifinals
