I headed over to Piurek Field in West Haven Tuesday afternoon to take in North Haven at West Haven in an SCC Tournament Semifinal Game.
The Blue Devils started fast scoring 4 runs in the 1st inning and went on to beat the Indians 7-1. West Haven advances to the Championship Game Thursday night at 5:30pm at Piurek Field to play Fairfield Prep, 12-2 winners over Hamden in the other Semifinal Game.
In the West Haven 4 run 1st inning, Michael Boni drove in a run with a Sac Fly, Dylan Supan had an rbi double and Anthony Rubin had a 2 run single. The Blue Devils added a run in the 2nd and a run in the 5th before North Haven scored their only run on a Sac Fly by Shaun Murray.
Dan Izzo doubled home the Westies final run in the 6th. Izzo had 2 hits, scored a run, and stole 2 bases. Michael Boni had 2 rbis and Anthony Rubin had 2 hits and 2 rbis.
Gianni Gambardella was the winning pitcher going the distance. He gave up 3 hits and had 11 strikeouts.
