SCC Tourn Boys BB Div. 1 Semifinal - West Haven Beats Cross in OT Classic

Tuesday's Broadcast - SCC Tournament - Boys Basketball Division 1 Semifinal - Wilbur Cross at West Haven.

It will go down as an ICC - an Instant Coach Classic. I knew this would be a battle - it was more like a war.

Cross led 15-10 after 1 quarter and 24-21 at the Half. The game was tied at 36 after 3 quarters. Then came the 4th quarter. It was nip and tuck - the lead changed hands several times. Cross led 49-46 and almost stole the ball that would have ended the game. But the Cross went out of bounds and there was .3 of a second left.

What happened next was unbelievable. West Haven tried a desperation 3 point shot that was no good - BUT a foul was called on Cross. Eli Blackwell of West Haven was getting 3 foul shots with no time on the clock. Pressure - are you kidding me - Blackwell had to make all 3 foul shots to tie the game and send it to Overtime. AND HE DID JUST THAT!

West Haven went on to beat Wilbur Cross 64-58 in Overtime, outscoring the Governors 15-9 in the OT.

Malcolm Duncanson led West Haven with 26 points and Eli Blackwell added 17 points, including #1,000 of his career.

Dereyk Grant led Wilbur Cross with 15 points while Jarel Delgado added 14 points for the Governors.
