Wednesday's Broadcast - SCC Girls Tournament 1st Round - #9 East Haven at #8 Shelton
This turned into a gem. In a foul-plagued game, where there were 44 foul shots taken, the Gaels nipped the Yellowjackets 40-38.
Shelton led 12-5 after the 1st Quarter and 21-17 at the Half. The lead swelled to 36-25 in the 4th Quarter, but it was then East Haven made a run. The hit 3 3 pointers and cut the lead down to 2 points, but couldn't get a rebound after 2 missed 1 and 1's by Shelton. Erin Curran's 3/4 court shot was very close, but hit the side of the rim and the Gaels breathed a sigh of relief for the 2 point win.
Clarissa Pierre led Shelton with 15 points and Laryssa Guimaraes added 10 big points for Shelton.
Taylor Salato led East Haven with 15 points and Kate Pycela had 10 points for East Haven.
Shelton advances to the Quarterfinals to play the #1 seed, Sheehan, on Friday night.
