Fall Sports have been given the go-ahead by the CIAC - again.
The CIAC Board of Governors voted Sunday night to continue with their Plan for playing Fall Sports.
Conditioning activities may continue starting Monday, August 24th. Non-contact sport specific skill work may begin August 29th. Players will be alligned in cohorts of 10. The CIAC will finalize the timeline of full team activities and games this week.
You might see the season pushed back a week or so and end sometime in November, I presume before Thanksgiving.
Still a 6 game schedule with 2 possible Playoff Games - maxing out with an 8 game schedule.
I think this is a very doable schedule and if all the coaches and players abide by the rules and especially the safety protocols, we can have Football as well as other Fall Sports.
One very important ruling that came out from the Board of Control - IF ANY FALL SPORT IS CANCELED, IT WILL NOT BE PLAYED AT A LATER TIME(ex. the SPRING). Heed this well coaches and players - mess this up and there is no second chance.
This certainly is great news - now let's make it work.
And again - how about some positive articles in the newspapers from the Sportswriters. Unless they prefer to cover Town Council meetings instead.
Me - I'd rather be at a High School game anytime.
