The CIAC Football Season is set to begin with practices in cohorts of 15 August 17th. Opening Day is scheduled for September 24th.
The CIAC Board of Control is scheduled to meet Wednesday afternoon at 2pm to discuss the recommendations from the committees of the Fall Sports, which includes football.
13 states have moved football and other Fall sports to the Spring. It seems we always hear about the states that cave in and move the sports.
How about the 18 states that have announced their Fall seasons will start as scheduled. Don't hear about them, do we.
Listen, Governor Lamont has outlined his policy for bringing the kids back to school. As a former teacher, there is nothing that compares with face to face in class learning. As far as I'm concerned, the learning stopped on March 13th. The teachers worked their butts off, preparing lessons and getting grades. BUT - it's just not the same.
I know we need to take every precaution during this time, especially in the schools, but I believe it can be done and the school systems should be prepared to handle it. They must have or should have known that measures would need to be taken to get the schools ready and if they didn't, shame on them.
We should find out more after the Board of Control meets Wednesday.
18 states are moving ahead with Fall Sports as scheduled in September.
Let's hope Connecticut makes it 19!
