A family trip to Meriden to watch the final game of the regular season - the Division 2 19u League Tournament Championship at Legion Field in Meriden.
Two outstanding teams - Hamden and Wallingford battling it out.
It was a great game - hated to see either team lose - but..... nip and tuck game - and in the end -
Hamden defeated Wallingford 2-1. Michael Aceto was the winning pitcher, a complete game performance. He also had 3 hits and scored a run. The game winning rbi was driven in by Jake Jovia with a double. Jeremiah Greenberg drove in the other Hamden run with a single. Wallingford's run driven in on an rbi single from Kyle Simmoms.
With the victory, Hamden moves on to the State Tournament starting Friday.
Hamden will play at NCL on Friday at 5:30pm while Regular Season Champ, Orange, will host Meriden at Brinley Field at 5:30pm.
In the 17u State Tournament:
NCL will be at Orange at 5:30pm at DeGennaro Field(Old Tavern Road Complex)
Rocky Hill/Cromwell/Portland will play at Wallingford at 5:30pm
Naugatuck will be at Brisrol at Muzzy Field at 6:30pm
The State Tournament will last 1 weekend Aug. 7-9.
