A family trip to Branford on Thursday and saw another dandy. Extra innings again - but this time we got a winner. Wallingford, down 1-0 in the top of the 7th, rallied to tie it, then got 2 runs in the top of the 8th to win it 3-1 over Branford.
Branford scored their lone run in the 3rd inning on a walk, throwing error and a wild pitch. It stayed that way until the 7th inning.
Wallingford tied the game in the 7th on an rbi double by Evan Wilkinson. Wallingford then broke the tie in the 8th on a 2 run double by Kyle Simmons. Simmons also had a single and was 2 for 4 on the night. Wallingford is 2-2, Branford is 1-3.
Parker Hunter was the winning pitcher in relief for Wallingford. Bennett Gentile pitched outstanding for Branford. He went 7 innings, giving up 1 run, 4 hits and had 11 strikeouts. In fact, of the 48 outs recorded in the game, 22 were strikeouts.

The Big 10 Conference announced it will play a Conference only schedule for the 2020 season. The Conference currently plays 9 league games but could fill out its schedule with additional Big Ten teams.
MLB announced their 2021 schedule. Opening Day is set for April 1st. All 30 teams will be in action on Opening Day. The Blue Jays will visit the Yankees, the Red Sox will host the Orioles and the Mets will play the Nationals in Washington. The All Star Game will be July 13th in Atlanta. The final day of the regular season is October 3rd.
