A family trip to Piurek Field(ah yes, the field named after the great coach I played for at West Haven, Whitey Piurek) to take in Game 1 of a Twinbill between West Haven and Orange. Turned out to be a very entertaining game. West Haven grabbed a 5-0 lead with 5 runs in the 3rd inning. But Orange tied it at 5 with 1 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th. West Haven scored 3 runs in the 6th and won the game 8-5. Brendan Palmer was the winning pitcher in relief. Daniel Izzo drove in the game winning rbi with an rbi double in the 6th. Hunter Axelrod had 2 rbis, Michael Boni had a single and 3 rbis and Lorenzo Espinal had 2 hits and an rbi for West Haven. Sebastian Formica had a triple and 2 rbis and Jake Crow had 2 hits and scored 2 runs for Orange. Willy was loved by all the ladies at the game. ( I must say I was a little jealous)
Orange got revenge, winning Game 2 6-4. Jake Crow had 4 hits completing a 6 for 7 DH. Will Rotko was the winning pitcher.
East Haven beat Branford 7-2. Jake Marquardt was the winning pitcher. Gianni Mumford had a double, triple and 3 rbis for East Haven.
Milford shutout New Haven 9-0. Jason Giambra pitched a no hitter for Milford. Ryan Jordan had a triple and Sam Sinisgalli had 2 hits and 2 rbis for Milford.
Madison defeated Wallingford 5-2. Aiden Patrick was the winning pitcher, Mac Messier had the save and the 2 combined on a 1 hitter. Jared Kuryan had an rbi double and scored 2 runs for Madison.
In the 17u Division, Hamden beat Shelton 4-2. Sean McGarry was the winning pitcher.
Orange beat Branford 8-0.
