The Travelers Championship begins Thursday at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. An outstanding field of 156 golfers will vie for the $1.3 Million Dollar first place prize. Seven of the top 10 players in the world and 14 of the top 20 will be on hand. First tee off time is 6:45am.
UCONN's Board of Trustees met Wednesday to try to put together a sports budget. UCONN must slice about $10 million dollars in the next 3 years off the athletic budget. After the meeting, the Boatd of Trustees proposed to cut 4 sports: Men's Tennis, Men's Cross Country, Men's Swimming & Diving and Women's Rowing.
The NFL has set July 28th for the teams to start training camps with a shortened preseason. The 1st preseason game is scheduled for August 6th.
Ten high school teams will be competing this summer in a girls lacrosse league called the Dream League. There will be 2 Divisions:
Dream League North: Branford, Guilford, Madison, North Haven, Wallingford
Dream League South: Amity, Monroe, Shelton, Stratford, West Haven
Games will begin July 6th and the playoffs will commence August 10th
The Dream League North Tournament will be in Guilford while the Dream League South Tournament will be in Stratford. The 2 Conference Champions will meet in the Dream League Final.
