What can I say - it was a Classic Hockey Doubleheader at the Bennett Rink in West Haven on Wednesday night. It certainly had the atmosphere of Playoff Hockey.
Game 1
West Haven defeated Cheshire 2-1 in Overtime! Kaden Morgillo scored both goals, including the game winner in OT for the Blue Devils.
Scott Heseltine scored the Cheshire goal. Superb goaltending by both goalies - Nick Maringola of Cheshire and Jared Pliszka of West Haven.
But that was just the appetizer.
Game 2
Amity edged Notre Dame(WH) 2-1. Outstanding goaltending once again - Connor Smith for ND(WH) and Malachi Zurolo of Amity. Smith made 37 saves and Zurolo 39 saves!
Charles Andriole scored a Shorthanded Goal for ND, giving them a 1-0 lead. But Amity tied it in the 3rd Period on a Power Play Goal by Jason Csejka. The game winning goal for the Spartans was scored by Nelson Bordeleau.
