Girls Softball on a Monday took me to Cheshire to see the Rams battle the Spartans of Amity. Each team came into the game with just 1 loss and both were ranked in the Top 10 Girls Softball Poll.
Cheshire came out aggressive and scored 3 runs in the 1st inning, thanks to a 2 run Home Run by Sara Mulligan and an rbi double by Kinsey Ratchelous. The Rams added a run in the 3rd inning on an rbi single from Ratchelous and led 4-0.
But the Spartans got back in the game with 1 swing of the bat. Brooke Matyasovsky belted a 3 run Home Run to make it 4-3. But that's as close as Amity got.
Cheshire answered with 2 runs and went on to win it 6-3. Natalie Amato was the winning pitcher, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 7.
Sara Mulligan had 3 hits, including a 2 run Home Run, 3 rbis and scored 2 runs. Kinsey Ratchelous added 2 hits and 2 rbis. Mulligan was the Willy George DeMaio Top Dog of the Game.(pictured in the Blog)
