Sunday Softball: Cheshire Nips Sheehan

With all the early rainouts, there was Sunday Softball and I ventured out to Wallingford to see Cheshire at Sheehan. It was a nip and tuck battle all the way. But Lexie Hemstock singled home Sara Mulligan with the go ahead run in the top of the 7th inning and that proved to be the game winner as Cheshire beat Sheehan 4-3. Bri Pearson was the winning pitcher in relief of starter Natalie Amato. Ari Perlini had 2 doubles and Kinsey Ratchelous had 2 rbis for Cheshire. Marissa Gonzales had 2 rbis and Meg Murphy and Nicole Dorsey had 2 hits each for Sheehan.

Lexie Hemstock was the Willy George DeMaio Top Dog of the Game.(Pictured in Blog)

Remember, I give out this Award after every game I cover. Willy may or may not be in attendance, but his spirit is there.

So finally there are games being played around the state, but it still isn't ideal weather.

In Sunday Boys Baseball: St. Joseph 11 Sheehan 2

Monday - a bunch of games - but where to go

I think I've mentioned this before, but if you had forgotten, some years ago, I had a pet parakeet(loved that little guy, sat on my shoulder and walked around the house with me) and he had a purple belly - so I named him T-Bird, after the Thunderbirds of North Branford.

Monday - the #10 Thunderbirds(2-0) visit the #7 Yellowjackets(2-0) in Eastieville at 4:30pm. As a tribute to my Parakeet, I think it only proper -

North Branford at East Haven - T-Birds - Yellowjackets and Me
