Saturday it’s Paddles up! Dragon boat races return to the riverfront on August 19. Come cheer on your favorite team and celebrate Asian and Pacific Island cultures through traditional music and dance, hands-on arts activities, food, and martial arts at our free, family-friendly annual event. Parking for this event is available on-street on both sides of the river, in the Connecticut Convention Center garage, the Connecticut Science Center garage, and the Front Street North garage.
Help CT Kids get the school supplies they need! It’s my second annual multitown Backpack and School Supply Drive at the Shops at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor, from noon to 3pm. We’ll be right in the center by Ben & Jerry’s – drop off your donations for kids from kindergarten to high school and you can enter to win $1,000 for your back to school shopping and additional $1,000 for the school or charity of your choice! PLUS you’ll get to meet Officer Mitchel and K9 Mylo from East Windsor PD, Officer Simons and Officer Heidi from Yale, Officer McClelland and Officer Chase from Groton PD, Officer Ruggiero and K9 Nash of Farmington PD and Officer Pirog and K9 Frankie of the Bristol PD! And kids can have fun with South Windsor Fire Department too!
Also Sunday The 3rd Annual Car Show for Army’s Legacy and Sanctuary is taking place on August 20 in Branford! There will be music, food, vendors, raffles and trophies! Open to motorcycles and vehicles of all years! Visit armyslegacy.org
