This weekend head to the shoreline to the Old Lyme Midsummer Festival Friday & Saturday at the July Florence Griswold Museum. You’ll enjoy local artists and businesses to celebrate the arts in Old Lyme with a mix of music, art exhibitions, and food. In its over 30 years the festival has grown in visitation and offerings, but has always stayed true to its mission of highlighting the culture of the community. Event begins with a Friday evening outdoor concert and dancing at the Florence Griswold Museum (96 Lyme Street). Saturdays activities include art exhibitions and sales, food trucks, musical performances, artisan fairs, book signings and sales, domestic farm animals and hands-on children's activities.
Saturday it’s MOVE! With the Urban League of Greater Hartford The 4K welcomes participants of all abilities, ages and fitness levels to run or walk before they enjoy a summer morning MOVE Festival with a free kids run, variety of fitness activities, healthy snacks, giveaways and live entertainment. Explore Hartford’s historic Keney Park in this inspiring inaugural event and encourage others to join you. The $20 event fee for adults and $10 fee for ages 13-21 includes a cotton shirt; kids 12 and under can participate in the 4K and/or kids run for free (shirt available for purchase).The 4K (2.5 mile) route is fun for runners and walkers, with start and finish on the Woodland Street entrance to Keney Park. The route and all festivities are within the park, which features shade areas, meadows and forests and is one of New England’s largest public parks!This event has been made possible through the generous support of Pratt & Whitney. All proceeds go toward helping the Urban League of Greater Hartford’s work to improve racial equity and economic empowerment through education, employment, housing, health and social justice programs.
