While US library closures are not as staggering as Britain’s, we’re still losing them. A recent American Library Association’s State of America’s Libraries Report found “the number of states reporting library branch closures [was] five in 2016. As in previous years, the number of closures in each state was between one and five libraries.”
The James Blackstone Memorial Library in Branford snagged itself a grant for renovations that sound quite ambitious. Known as a "community meeting place" of sorts, the library is key to the town, as are many to towns across CT, and the nation.
