After an incredibly successful 2021-2022 sports season, we turn to the start of the 2022-23 season. Last year, I was almost unstoppable predicting the winners of the games and, as you could guess, nothing will change this year. The extraordinary ability of guessing the winner is clearly something engrained in my DNA. There is, however, something that is drastically different this year from any past years. This year, I am not only guessing for myself, but now I am guessing for a family. Once Benson joins us (my pregnant wife is due anytime now), Goralnik's Guesses will turn into more of a father/son rivalry as I will put my picks up against Benson's picks. For now, I will be picking for myself in a tremendous Week 1 matchup.
Let's talk football. Wow. What a Week 1 game we have on our hands where the Blue Devils of West Haven take a short trip over the face the Notre Dame of West Haven Green Knights. This is normally a Week 2 affair, but this year is a special year, so we need to get the show started early. Both of these teams do not like each other. Both of these teams should have a solid season. It is very hard to bet against Notre Dame when they are playing at home. All of these facts present a difficult start to this season, but I think there's a clear-cut answer hidden in the weeds. I'll jump on board with a Week 1 win by riding some "Dad Mojo". While this world is very different now and really anything can go, I learned at the baby shower that generally blue is for a boy so in honor of my incoming son Benson, give me the West Haven Blue Devils in a road thriller to start the year.
