Bruce Springsteen released a song Thursday blasting Trump called “That’s What Makes Us Great.” It's a duet with past collaborator Joe Grushecky, and The Boss actually takes a backseat to Grushecky for much of the song. Interestingly, Bruce rose to prominence as a guy who set the trials and tribulations of being blue collar in New Jersey to music, only to never stray all that far from that recipe, even while he replaced the house he grew up in, that had no hot water, with several mansions. I longed for Springsteen to one time make a record about making it in America, about where he was NOW; I yearned for this as far back as the late 80's, when he was married to a supermodel, but he simply continues to mine the same territory time and again. I love Bruce's voice, and he is a brilliant lyricist, but he's just as wealthy as the man he sings about here and just as egotistical.
