Louisiana Issues State Of Emergency Ahead of Potential Hurricane

Hurricane Season Sign With Stormy Background

A state of emergency is being issued for parts of Louisiana ahead of a potential hurricane. Governor John Bel Edwards issued the emergency proclamation in anticipation of a tropical system that would be named Barry if it makes landfall in the state this weekend. The storm is forecast to bring heavy rains, winds and storm surge which will result in flooding. The National Hurricane Center's latest forecast shows the tropical depression is moving west-southwest around eight-miles-per-hour. Barry is predicted to hit Saturday evening near Lake Charles, Louisiana.
