So much for having an armed guard posted at schools. Turns out the one that was posted at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fl never encountered the crazed gunman.
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel told reporters that the guard on duty that day was on campus but never encountered the shooter.
“He was on campus and he was armed,” Israel said. “At this point, the only thing I can tell you definitively is he never encountered Cruz.”
Florida education officials have been screaming for more money to put towards security at schools throughout the state.
All 67 school districts share the same pool of money to be used for armed guards, bullying prevention and after-school programs. That dollar amount has not changed in 7 years.
Will more armed guards at schools make you feel any safer? How many armed guards do you think a school of 3000 kids should have?
