The Newington Coop Nor'easters defeated the Conard Chieftains 3-1 to claim the CIAC State Hockey Tournament Division 3 Chanpionship. Newington Coop came in as the #2 seed while Conard entered as the #9 seed.
Conard took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd Period on a goal by Freshman Brady Narus.
But the lead was short-lived as Newington scored 2 goals, 19 seconds apart, to take a 2-1. Newington added an empty net goal in the 3rd Period.
Tyler Leavitt had a goal and assist for Newington Coop. Andrew Stribling had a goal and Braeden Humphrey had the empty netter for Newington.
It was a very exciting and entertaining game in front of a pretty good crowd at Quinnipiac.
