Conn. East(Coginchaug) beats Mass. in Junior Softball Regional Tournament

Wally and I made a Sunday trip to Orange to check out the Little League Junior Softball Regional Tournament. It was Connecticut East(Coginchaug) taking on Massachusetts. The girls from Conn. East really loved my Wally, but then who wouldn't.

Pretty close game until Conn. broke it open in the 4th and added 3 more in the 5th for a 13-3 victory. The game was stopped due to the 10 run mercy rule after 5 innings.

Leading Conn. East were Katrina Mancini, Kelly Boothroyd, Skye Ryer and Natalie Turner.

Conn. East is now 2-1 in Pool Play. They will face Maine at 2pm on Monday.

The winner of this Regional Tournament advances to the Junior Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington.

A team from Milford, Connecticut(D4) will represent Connecticut in the East Regional Tournament in Senior League Softball(15-16).

In the LL East Regional Softball Tournament(11-12) in Bristol, Conn., Waterford, Conn. has won their first 2 games beating Mass. 13-0 and Maryland 12-0.

The winner of this Regional Tournament advances to the Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Oregon.

The Conn. State Tournament in Little League Baseball(11-12) begins Friday in Guilford.

In American Legion action:

Senior Tournament(19u) Trumbull 8 Greenwich 0 (Greenwich eliminated)

Stamford 6 Cheshire 1  Cheshire will play Trumbull Monday at 6:30pm in an elimination game.

There were no games scheduled in the Junior Legion State Tournament.

So the tournaments continue - The Road to ........... is still open for several Connecticut teams.

Let's hope 1 or more make it to their World Series. Wally and I will be rooting for them.
