I made a solo trip to Milford on Monday night(Wally was supposed to go, said it was over 80 degrees, not required to go - read my contract) to see Milford host Branford in the Junior Legion State Tournament.
It was 5-5 until Milford scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and went to defeat Branford 8-5. This is a double elimination tournament so both teams are still in the tournament.
Jack Wagner got the win in relief. Nick Lombardo had 2 hits and an rbi and Justin DeEll had a huge pinch hit single that drove in 2 runs. James Carbone had a double, rbi and scored 2 runs as well for Milford.
Aidan Ricciardelli had 2 hits and Anthony Burzynski had a double and scored a run for Branford.
Other Junior Legion State Tournament scores:
Guilford 3 Manchester 0, Cheshire 12 Wilton 2, Oakville 4 North Haven 1, Stratford 3 Fairfield 0, Trumbull 4 Hamden 1
Tuesday, the Senior Tournament(19u) continues.
The only Zone 2 team remaining in the Tournament is the Zone 2 Champion Stratford.
Tuesday night they host Trumbull at Penders Field. A road trip could be in order - will it be solo, with Wally, or a family trip - only time will tell.
