Bad Day for Zone 2 in Legion State Tournament

posted by Coach -

It was not a good day for Zone 2 teams in the Legion State 19u Tournament on Sunday. All 3 teams lost and were eliminated.

Meriden defeated East Haven 1-0, Trumbull beat North Haven 3-0 and Stamford knocked off Orange 11-3.

This leaves only the Zone 2 Champion Stratford still in the tournament. Stratford will host Trumbull on Tuesday night at Penders Field.

Elsewhere in the Tournament, Middletown defeated Monroe 9-0.

The 17u Junior Legion State Tournament begins on Monday.

In Little League action, congrats to North Branford for winning the District 4 11-12 Championship beating Max Sinoway(North Haven) 12-11.

North Branford will move on to the Section 1 Tournament and will play Thursday against District 1 at 7pm at the North Branford Little League field.

As I mentioned earlier, the Junior Legion State 17u Tournament begins on Monday and ironically, two Zone 2 teams meet in the First Round.

Branford(9-8) will travel to Milford(11-7) as the 2 teams will battle at Foran High School at 5:30pm.

I think Wally and I will make that trip to Milford and check out this First Round tilt.
