Friday Night’s battle of the Tech schools did not disappoint as WELI’s 2nd broadcast of Tech School basketball became an instant “Coach’s Classic”.
Wilcox Tech would take a 35-28 lead into halftime thanks in large part to 17 first half points from DJ Ransom which including 2 3-pointers. Wilcox would take advantage of some hot outside shooting early to offset Platt’s Interior size advantage. Not to be outdone Platt Tech’s Tyler Dowdy, a “Hummel HotDog Player of the Game” this season already, had 13 1st points to keep his team in the game.
The 3rd quarter would see Wilcox draw a whopping 8 team fouls to put the in them bonus for the rest of the game, making it a uphill battle for the Panthers. But they were up to the task as they would come all the way back and Tyler Dowdy’s late 4 point play would put Platt Tech up for good as they would hold on for the 67-62 win.
Tyler Dowdy would finish with a team high 27 points while Tyquell Cadle, Platt’s 2nd Hummel Hot Dog player of the game winner of the season, and Keenan little both added 13 points each.
Wilcox Tech’s DJ Ransom led all players with 33 points, and Nick Milsagle also chipped in with 16 points in the 2nd loss for Wilcox Tech’s of the season.
