Meet Guidry and Posada...A Bonded Pair Up For Adoption Now!!

Bonded pair Guidry (10 y/o spayed female) and Posada (6 y/o neutered male) are working with the Connecticut Humane Society because their mom, who loves them very much, needs to rehome them due to heartbreaking circumstances.

This bonded German Shepherd pair hopes their new family has a yard with room to explore—they currently have full access to a 2-acre yard where they keep up with all the sights and smells of local wildlife. They’ve free-roamed their yard when playing outside for their entire lives, so it’s not clear what their leash manners are. They have excellent manners, are housebroken, and are not destructive. They just need a quiet place to retire to.

Guidry and Posada are well cared for, have regularly seen a veterinarian, and are in the process of getting up-to-date on vaccines. Guidry is known as the “bashful” one, and she appreciates the opportunity to curl up on the couch next to her person. Posada is a typical little brother—he likes to be the center of attention. Both dogs are respectful of cats; Guidry is inquisitive and takes great pleasure in sniffing the family cat but is receptive when the kitty gives him a swat. It is not clear how they feel about children or other dogs due to their lack of exposure.

Both dogs LOVE to be pet. They aren’t particularly into playing with toys or games with people—although Posada enjoys chewing on a Kong—and prefer to play with each other. They calmly greet household visitors—even when they are the first to receive them in their big yard—Guidry prefers to inquisitively observe, and Posada will happily accept petting on behalf of both dogs. Be ready for pups who may want to share the bed with you!

Guidry has arthritis and hip dysplasia, currently managed with Galliprant and Cosequin. Posada takes Cosequin for good measure. They’ve lived in a home with a small staircase, but as they age, a home that doesn’t require stair use to be a part of the family is ideal or access the outdoors, especially for Guidry.

As their namesakes suggest, the dogs are lifelong Yankees fans, but sports fans and non-sports fans alike are encouraged to learn more. Inquiries may be directed to Kitty Baker via call/text at 860-331-0648 or kbaker@cthumane.org.
