A Florida man was shot and killed by police following a tense, hours-long standoff. Authorities said that the man, who has not been identified, shot three people before barricading himself inside a home in Hialeah with his nine-year-old son.
Investigators said that the 59-year-old suspect shot his 48-year-old former partner, his ex's 31-year-old daughter, and his ex's new boyfriend, 51. The three injured people managed to escape and found shelter in another apartment. When a SWAT team arrived, the man opened fire, forcing them to retreat and attempt to negotiate a peaceful solution.
After a few hours, the SWAT team stormed inside and rescued the boy, who was unharmed. The suspect barricaded himself inside the bathroom and was shot and killed by the police.
The man's ex-girlfriend and her daughter have been released from the hospital, while her new boyfriend is in critical condition. An officer was also injured during the incident and was treated and released from the hospital.
