.) Chip's For most CT residents you say the word pancake they think Chip's. Immediately. They've got every variation imaginable - from S'Mores to Coconut Crunch - but it's recent addition Birthday Cake that's got me wanting to make my return!
.) Cristy's Whether it's Westbrook or the recently reopened Madison location, this place treats pancakes like they're an art form. That's why they made it into my book "Route One Food Run." The Pumpkin Apple is one of the best things I've ever tasted.
.) The Pantry New Haveners know this place doesn't play when it comes to breakfast in general, never mind pancakes. Like, people wait in line to get in here for breakfast, no different than the line several blocks over, outside Pepe's.
4. Carmela's on the Extension Middletown Mayhem! Carmela goes somewhere few pancake artisans are inclined to go: Cherry. Yup. There's even a chocolate/cherry combo. And for those who want their pancakes even more decadent there is Oreo and Funfetti.
.) State Street Cafe Don't even bothering with "Is there a wait?" There IS one. Especially for breakfast. Circumference-wise, this North Haven institution just might offer up the biggest 'cakes in CT too!
