This is the leading reason an average of 38 children die per year - a frazzled, busy parent forgot the child was in the backseat? (Oh, and the press has deemed this "rare;" 38 dead children a year is...rare.)

Some news programs actually provided tips last week - tips for helping to remind you that the child you made, the life you created, is sleeping soundly in the backseat of your car, if not goo-goo-gah-ing? One was to put your briefcase back there, ostensibly because work is important enough to remember, but the child isn't.
